Uva Wine Bar Pulls The Plug On Complimentary Toilet Paper And Paper Towels

PLYMOUTH, MA (April 1, 2021) – Uva Wine Bar today announced that they will only provide toilet paper and paper towels in their restrooms to customers based on their wine consumption at Uva. Starting today, for each ounce of wine purchased, the customer will get one square of toilet paper; one sheet of paper towel will additionally be given if the customer has at least six ounces on their wine card.

“People have the preconceived notion that toilet paper and paper towel should be free, but it is a significant expense to businesses and it affects the bottom line [pun intended!] and we don’t have that kind of money to flush down the drain,” said Katy Gaenicke, co-owner of Uva Wine Bar. “Every month we spend a whole lot of money on restroom paper products, and we feel that people are taking advantage of the fact that it is free. In fact, we have it on good authority that people just come to Uva to use our bathrooms because we buy high quality toilet paper – none of that crappy [again, pun intended] single-ply stuff!”

Starting on April 1, 2021 the staff at Uva will check customer’s wine purchases on their wine cards and discreetly dispense toilet paper and paper towel accordingly.

Gaenicke continued, “If you’ve made it through this whole press release, then we have only one more thing to say to you – April Fools!!!”
